Baboucarr Busso

Baboucarr E.A. Busso, born in 1989 in Kabakoto, Upper Niumi District, North Bank Region, The Gambia, received his early education at Kabakoto Primary School and Kerr Cherno Omar Junior Secondary School. He continued to Essau SSS for his higher education, completing his WASSCE Level in 2006/2007, followed by the PTC program in 2010. Busso later taught at Kuntaya Basic Cycle from 2008/9 academic year to 2012/13 academic year. In 2016, he excelled in his HTC studies, achieving Overall Best Student in SES upon graduation. Pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Education, majoring in English Language with a minor in History, he graduated with Cum Laude from UTG's 16th Convocation ceremony.Busso's teaching career spans several institutions including Essau SSS, Sittanunku UB/SSS, Kabakoto BCS, and Bottrop Technical Upper and Senior Secondary School. Employed by MoBSE, he is celebrated as a Literature Teacher and Teacher Coordinator of Debate, writing, and creative skills at Tallinding SSS and CJMA. A prolific writer, he was honored as the Most Prolific Writer in 2022 under the School of Education, EDUSA, and nominated for the same award at UTGSU Awards Night. Recognized as a poet, essayist, social commentator, educationist, trainer, and advocate, Busso received the Youth Award Winner accolade as a teacher and activist in April 2024 from the African Youth Awards. He is affectionately known in literary circles as "The Icon Of Truth."
