PREFACE
Delay is a major obstacle to fulfilling one’s purpose. Many people are aware of their responsibilities — whether to repent, follow divine guidance, or pursue a calling — yet they keep on postponing. Delay carries risk: time is beyond our control, and the future is uncertain. As you read these pages, envision a life changed by the courage to move past procrastination, embracing the clarity and purpose that decisive action brings.
We must transform difficult circumstances into opportunities for spiritual growth, or we will struggle to maintain the peace necessary for progress. Challenges can appear as both hardships and blessings. For example, someone deeply committed to pursuing their purpose may suddenly become wealthy, lose interest in moral behaviour, and become completely distracted by worldly pursuits. Both individuals and communities may face such tests, and they call us to hold space for both the courage that breaks chains and the competence that builds what comes after. That is a worthy invitation — but precisely because the stakes are moral and historic, the logic we use to hold these truths together matters.
Just as a thread stitches martyrdom to authentic leadership, poetry cannot replace clear reasoning; when poetry attempts to do the work of argument, it can blur the distinctions necessary for fair judgment. Similarly, when a community experiences newfound prosperity, its members may become increasingly absorbed by the demands and distractions that accompany material abundance, causing their former sense of righteousness and shared purpose to rapidly erode.
Compassion for all is essential and must be upheld in every circumstance. Yet, strength can sometimes serve as a mask — a barrier that conceals inner turmoil. Often, those who appear the strongest are carrying the heaviest burdens, quietly hiding their wounds behind a facade of resilience. The most challenging aspect of being strong is that others seldom inquire about your well-being; many assume that your strength makes you immune to hardships that might overwhelm someone else.
